The Ga East Municipal Assembly (GEMA) branch of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association Ghana (CLOGSAG) has embarked on a clean-up exercise to mark the 2015 May Day celebrations.
A host of members of the GEMA branch of the Association turned up in the early hours of the eve of May Day for the clean-up exercise.
Spearheaded by the local CLOGSAG chairman, Mr Charles Nelson, the members weeded the premises of the main office, pruned the trees on the compound and planted trees to enhance the greenery and climatic conditions of the area.
Perhaps, the surprising and exciting moment of the exercise was when the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), Mr Martin Dassah, joined in to weed. The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), however was out of the country and could not participate in the exercise.
Most Heads of Departments/Units and other high-ranking officers also got themselves involved in the exercise.
Speaking to GEMANEWS shortly after the exercise, Mr Charles Nelson, expressed delight at the turnout and said similar exercise will be undertaken periodically within the municipality to promote good sanitation.
