A team of Personnel and Officers from the security agencies and the Assembly early this morning toured some of the polling centres in the municipality for the on-going District level elections.
The purpose for the team’s tour was to familiarize themselves with developments on the ground and move to address any challenges encountered.
Their first visit was at the Akporman Community Model School where Polling Centre B had recorded 30 votes out of the expected 531 voters as at 09:45GMT.
No incident had occurred during the team’s visit. However, turn-out was not encouraging.
A Presiding Office at the West African Hardware (A) Polling Station of the Dome East Electoral Area, Mr. Bright Agbalegbo, expressed unhappiness about the low turnout. As at 11:35GMT, only four out of the 574 registered voters had cast their ballots.
“As at now the people are not coming and we don’t know why, he remarked sadly.
The immediate past Assembly Member of the Taifa South Electoral Area, Hon. Franklin Frimpong Manso, in an interview with GEMANEWS said though he would have loved to continue to serve in that capacity, age did not allow him to.
He however assured the residents of his commitment to helping them find solutions to their development challenges.
“Is the development of the area that we all want. We want to see that everything goes on smoothly. I would have loved to come but sometimes age plays with something so I am still inside to help”, he said.
