The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Ga East Municipal Assembly (GEMA), Hon. John Kwao Sackey, has urged journalists and media practitioners to be meticulous in the dissemination of information.

The MCE said this during an interaction with a team from the morning show programme of Vision 1 (93.5) FM Station who paid a courtesy call on him to acquaint themselves with the state of development of the municipality.

Hon. John Kwao Sackey noted that various development projects were being implemented as part of a three-year Medium Term Development Plan (2014-17) with others earmarked to take off this year.

He said the “media is a great partner in the development of our communities but sometimes the way you convey information to the people is not the best”.

In his view, even though the media has the right to publish any information, ” if you really want to serve the best interest of the people and authorities, it is important that you cross-check your information to ensure that you publish the right thing”.

The MCE commended Vision 1 FM for their contribution towards the development of the municipality in particular and the nation in general, indicating that the Assembly was ready to partner them in any effort to propel the development agenda of the municipality.

The leader of the team, Mr. Frank Brefo, Chief Executive Producer, said they were grateful to the MCE for granting them audience and assured him that they will act in the best interest of the municipality.

“If there was something we didn’t do right, now you have explained things to us and we understand”, Mr Brefo remarked.
